Respiratory Therapist (Temporary) - Respiratory Care - Variable - PT0

Job Description:

• Provides respiratory care to patients for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes
  • Develops, implements, and/or adjusts orders based on patient assessment and patient response to therapy
  • Provides scheduled and emergency therapy and/or diagnostic tests to patients/clients per policy and standard procedures
  • Maintains accountability for patient care delegated or scheduled to others
• Communicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient care records per policy and standard procedures
  • Communicates directly with appropriate health care team as needed
  • Participates in team conferences and/or care coordination activities as needed

Required Qualifications:

Education: Respiratory Therapy Associate's Degree.

Licensure: Respiratory Care Practitioner or temporary permit issued by the MS State Board of Health as well as Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: One (1) Year of experience in all phases of respiratory care.

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care to patients for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes
  • Evaluates and performs respiratory therapy and diagnostic procedures based on patient assessment and or input from healthcare team members
  • Provides scheduled and emergency therapy and diagnostic test to patients
  • Alters plan of care based on ongoing assessments and patient response to therapy
  • Ensures efficient, quality patient outcomes through the implementation of the plan of care and effective use of all available resources
• Communicates health care needs with patient, family, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care
  • Assures daily accurate, concise reporting, and documentation of patients’ condition and needs with appropriate follow-up
  • Participates in team conferences and care coordination activities as needed
  • Communicates health care needs with patient and family as appropriate for continuance of care
• Provides a culture of safety in order to maintain a positive patient care experience
  • Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, and documentation
  • Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience
  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice
  • Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures
  • Maintains compliance with organization’s policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited school for respiratory therapy/technician

Licensure: Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist. Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the MS State Board of Health

Experience: One (1) year of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care environment.
